Welding and Fabrication Services
Welding and fabrication is a key part of the manufacturing process. Whether you want to cut, join, bend or break, when it comes to transforming metal, R&R’s services can get it done.
At R&R Manufacturing, we know that no two parts are exactly alike, so we match your specific job with the fabricator who is best suited for the process and the product (i.e. size, shape, material, function, certifications, etc.)
How Does Welding Work?
Welding is used to join metals, glass, or thermoplastics together through the use of high heat, melting, and cooling to form a joint. For manufacturing purposes, metals are used most often.
There are several processes that can be used to weld metals, the most common being:
- Spot Welding
- Stud Welding
- MIG/TIG
Weldable Materials
Materials that R&R typically deals with related to welding include (but are not limited to):
- Aluminum
- Bronze
- Steel (mild, hardened, alloys)
- Stainless Stee
What is Metal Fabrication?
Metal fabrication is an umbrella term used to describe a wide range of manufacturing operations. Typical fabrication processes include bending, shaping, sawing, shearing, welding and more.
Methods of Fabrication
Numerous methods are used in the fabrication process, depending on the desired product outcome. Here are several that could be used on one of your projects:
- Precision Bending: CNC press brakes are ideal for achieving precise, repeatable bends. R&R partners with a number of highly-qualified local vendors who specialize in CNC bending. We can recommend and coordinate the production, pricing, and lead time for your project.
- Roll forming: Rolling works by passing sheet metal through rollers until the desired shape is formed.
- Sawing: Based on the required part geometry, R&R will determine the most efficient and cost-effective method to saw your parts to size. R&R utilizes both manual and automatic saws.
- Grinding: This process removes material from stock to shape and finish components. Precision grinding is available when tight tolerances are required beyond the normal scope of CNC machining.
- Shearing: Shearing is used to remove or trim unwanted material from sheet metal, or to break larger sheets into smaller sections.
- Laser Cutting: R&R partners with several laser cutting facilities and can both recommend and coordinate services to ensure the best pricing and lead times available.
Raw Material Forms
Metal fabrication requires raw metal forms for part creation, including:
- Sheet/Plate
- Flat Bar
- Round Bar
- Tube
- Angle
- Mesh
